Because Safe, Supported Housing Shouldn't Be Out Of Reach

About Us

Our Mission

To create affordable, supportive housing for adults with I/DD through strong partnerships and a model that promotes independent living.

Our Story

The Serving Cup began in 2000, as a grassroots nonprofit creating social opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). What started as inclusive coffeehouse gatherings soon grew into a broader mission: building lives of dignity, independence and connection.

Our Model

Building Independence is a proven residential housing model for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), based on a Supported Independent Living approach. From initial planning through development, implementation, and beyond, we support communities every step of the way!

Our Communities

We offer adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) the opportunity to live independently with support. Residents prepare their own meals, maintain their apartments, and participate in a community designed to promote autonomy, stability, and social connection. This pilot project is a model for safe, sustainable housing that fosters independence and connection.
